PROGRESSING
BALLET
TECHNIQUE
Stellar is currently the only certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) educator known who works exclusively with gymnasts, applying dancer-developed strength training directly to the needs of the sport.
What is PBT?
PBT was originally developed as a supplemental strength training program for classical ballet dancers to build deep postural strength, stability, and body awareness. The exercises are specifically designed to enhance the technical requirements of dance, in a safe and conscious manner.
At Steller, we take these exercises and make them applicable to gymnastics to not only help with dance, but with all skills and events.
How Is PBT applicable to gymnasts?
Using ballet to help gymnasts become better dancers makes sense in theory, but in practice, it’s tough to
apply the techniques correctly without years of dance training. That’s where PBT comes in.
It breaks down the foundational strength, alignment, and coordination behind ballet and makes it accessible, effective, and relevant for gymnasts.
Muscle Activation & Body Awareness:
Develops the ability to engage the right muscles at the right time
Hip Mobility:
Improves leap extension, leg lines, and joint stability without forcing flexibility.
Posture & Alignment:
Teaches proper spinal alignment and shoulder placement

What's required?
PBT incorporates tools like exercise balls and bands in its training, recognizing their vital role in enhancing proprioception and alignment. Functioning like lie detectors, they help to correct posture and engage the targeted muscles for each movement.
If you’re ready to train smarter, Stellar is now offering 1-1 PBT lessons for gymnasts online.
Whether you're focusing on dance technique, refining posture, building strength, or increasing flexibility, PBT can be adapted to your level and needs.
